A contract for financing the Wood Technology Center in Gradište was signed, worth 25 million kuna

BELI MANASTIR, 21.09.2018. – Vukovar-Srijem County mayor Božo Galić signed a contract with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Minister of Agriculture Tomislav Tolušić for financing the infrastructure project of the Wood Technology Center.

The treaty was signed within the 6th session of the Council for Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem chaired by Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković with Deputy Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds Gabrijela Žalac and in the presence of Commissioner for Regional Policy Corine Creţa.

The Wood Technology Center is an infrastructure project that the Partners Council of Vukovar-Srijem County unanimously adopted as a strategic project of the Vukovar-Srijem County and as such is part of the Vukovar-Srijem County Development Strategy by 2020.

The project was submitted to the Limited Call for Proposals for Development Projects of the Ministry of Agriculture within the framework of the implementation of the Development Agreement for Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem

 

Forestry and Wood Industry of Vukovar-Srijem County

In the area of ​​Vukovar-Srijem County, there is the largest complex of oak forest in Europe – Spačva basin – the most valuable forest resource of the Republic of Croatia with the world famous and recognised Slavonian oak. For this valuable raw material in the area of ​​Vukovar-Srijem County, there is no innovation and research infrastructure in which to continuously carry out research, development and innovation activities that would transmit and create new knowledge and new technologies that are necessary for the development of the economy and the creation of new jobs.

Wood Technology Center

The Wood Technology Centre is the infrastructure project of the Wood Cluster SLAVONIAN OAK, founded by the Vukovar-Srijem County, which brings together 36 members from the ranks of woodcutting, local and regional self-government units, development agencies, educational and scientific research institutes, including the Croatian Forestry Institute Jastrebarsko i Šumarski fakultet, University of Zagreb.

The result of the project will be the infrastructure facility of the Wood Technology Centre at the location of the Ambarine Business District in Gradište, equipped with advanced 3D technologies for the development of new products, modern CNC prototype maker, woodworking and woodworking machines, a drier, an experimental dryer, and a biomass boiler.
Building, equipping and putting into full function of the infrastructure facility of the Wood Technology Center will contribute to the smart and sustainable use of valuable forest resources in line with the directives and strategies of the European Union and the Republic of Croatia, in a way that will stimulate development, research and innovation activities, valuable forest raw materials would ultimately be processed into ecological products of high degree of finalization and high added value, all with a view to improving business and business environment in the wood processing sector, sustainable development and environmental protection with positive effects not only on wood-processing infrastructure users but indirectly to all inhabitants of the Vukovar-Srijem County, the Republic of Croatia and the European Union.

The project holder is the Vukovar-Srijem County, and the value of construction and equipping is HRK 24,997,781.16.
