On 28th and 29th of May 2024, the Adopting Nature-Based Solutions to Improve the Climate Resilience of Local Governments - NBS4LOCAL (Interreg Europe) interregional project partners meeting and peer-review visit to Finnish good practice examples was held in Inari, Finland.
The meeting also marked the start of peer-review visits to good practice examples in each partner country, and for this occasion to locations that have been selected by Regional Council of Lapland as best practices of nature-based solutions. 4 best practices were presented:
- The Sámi Climate Council,
- The river restoration by Snowchange Cooperative,
- The inclusion of the ecological paths in the Regional Planning for Northern Lapland, and

Competence Centre is in charge for the organization and coordination of all visits to best practice locations in the project, and after Finland, the next visit is planned for 7th and 8th November in Poland, at the project partner Regional Development Agency Rzeszow.
In addition to peer-review visits, various interactive workshops and presentations were held that will help in the implementation of the next phases of the project, which will require the partners to plan and prepare to raise awareness on local and regional level about importance of nature-based solutions’ implementation in local and regional strategic documents and policies.
The NBS4LOCAL project is focused on nature-based solutions (NBS) that offer environmentally friendly interventions to restore and protect ecosystems, and to build a sustainable approach in societies when adapting to climate change and natural disasters. Project duration is from March 2023 to February 2027. Total Project budget is 2.039.442,45 EUR, funded by Interreg Europe Programme.
