The 21st Wood-technology conference was held in Opatija on 3rd and 4th of June 2024, under the high patronage of the Parliament and Government of the Republic of Croatia, which brought together numerous wood processors, foresters, biomass processors, wood and furniture dealers, investors, university and high school professors and representatives of relevant institutions.
The Southeast Europe wood processing and forestry sector representatives gathered at the conference, discussed about the key challenges and opportunities in the forestry, wood processing and energy sectors, as well as the state of the market and improvement opportunities for education, better use of new technologies and EU funds.
At the Conference, the FOREST4EU project was presented and Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology Zagreb, Croatian Chamber of Forestry and Wood Technology Engineers, Croatian Forests Ltd, Croatian Wood Cluster, Croatian Union of Private Forest Owners Associations and Croatian Forest Institute.
The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to express readiness and determination to jointly invest efforts for stronger representation of forestry and agroforestry sectors in Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy of the Republic of Croatia 2023-2027 and to jointly collaborate on launching Operational Groups (OG) in the framework of Croatian Rural Development Program in the sectors of forestry and agroforestry.
