At the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of P\u00e9cs, two significant events were successfully held as part of the DRWO4.0 \u2013 Danube Region Wood Industry Transformation Model towards Industry 4.0 project. These events brought together experts from the wood industry, the construction sector, and academia to strengthen collaboration and exchange knowledge on sustainable and innovative practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On April 3, the first day was dedicated to the Train the trainers workshop titled Wood in sustainable construction. Through a series of lectures and interactive discussions, participants explored how wood can play a key role in sustainable building solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop covered topics such as:The role of sustainability and innovation in the wood industry in fostering a circular economy, The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology and its applicability in industrial environments. The first day ended with the visit to the Cella Septichora Centre in Pecs where historical use of natural materials was presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A special focus was placed on the exchange of best practices between experts from various sectors, further encouraging collaboration within the Danube Region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On April 4, the second day featured the PE South \u2013 1st Thematic Meeting under the theme Energy-efficient mechatronics in wood processing. The program began with a lecture by Tam\u00e1s Bit\u00f3, an engineer from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of P\u00e9cs, on modern mechatronics systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was followed by a presentation by Fakopp Enterprise Bt, showcasing a successful example of energy-efficient mechatronics in wood processing and innovative solutions for process optimization while reducing energy consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These events provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and experience-sharing among experts from the wood industry and related sectors. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of collaboration within the Danube Region to promote sustainability and facilitate the implementation of new technologies in wood processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
