On January 15, 2025, second-year undergraduate students of Wood Technology from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, University of Zagreb, visited the Competence Centre as part of their field trip for the course Wood Drying Technology. They were accompanied by their professors, PhD Stjepan Pervan and PhD Silvana Prekrat.
During the visit, students were introduced to the activities of the Competence Centre and had the opportunity to observe the practical application of knowledge in the field of wood technology. The Wood Technology Manager, Zvijezdana Pejić, introduced the students to the operation of modern machinery and equipment for wood processing. She explained the basic principles of natural drying, the fundamentals and technologies of technical drying of solid wood, the organization of raw and dried wood yards, various types and applications of drying regimes, as well as control and regulation systems and their use. Additionally, topics such as identifying and eliminating errors in the drying process, as well as cost calculations related to this important technological process, were covered.
This experience allowed students to connect theoretical knowledge with practice, while familiarizing themselves with innovative solutions and processes in the wood industry.
Students and their professors expressed great satisfaction with the presented content and emphasized the importance of such educational visits in professional training. Future cooperation through similar activities and projects is planned.
