Strengthening cross-border capacity for better climate resilience of forest ecosystems by advanced assessment, testing and demonstrating solutions for ecosystem restoration – Interreg IPA Croatia – Serbia

Project objective: Revitalization of the forests of the Spačva-Bosut basin to preserve biodiversity and resilience to climate change.

Enhanced cross-border capacity for improved resilience of forest ecosystems to climate change.

 

Planned Activities:

  • Baseline assessment – data collection from existing sources and advanced field observations
  • Development of a Green Action Plan for improving the condition of forest ecosystems in the Spačva–Bosut basin
  • Preparation and establishment of pilot areas
  • Joint demonstration of pilot area restoration using a new forest restoration solution
  • Establishment of a cross-border gene bank
  • Joint development of forest ecosystem restoration solutions
  • Dissemination of results and preparation of solutions for adoption by organizations

 

Expected Project Results:

  • Jointly developed Green Action Plan
  • New methodologies for soil preparation and planting
  • Forest ecosystem restoration model

 

Project Budget: 1.655.501,66 EUR

CEKOM Budget: 189.000,00 EUR

Project Duration: 01.09.2024. – 28.02.2027.
