Project REBIOFORESTS: Review of Activities and Expert Discussion on Forest Conservation

The national event of the REBIOFORESTS project was held on December 9th , 2025, at Bačinci (Republic of Serbia), with the participation of project partners, representatives of public enterprises, scientific institutions, local stakeholders and educational institutions that expressed strong interest in the project. The gathering began with informal networking and a welcome session, allowing participants to connect and prepare for the working part of the program.

During the event, participants were introduced to the project, its objectives and achievements to date, including experiences from the study trip to Bilbao and pilot activities for restoring forest ecosystems. Special emphasis was placed on the development and future implementation of the Green Action Plan as a key project outcome. Through presentations and discussions, attendees gained detailed insights into the current state of forests in the Spačva-Bosut basin, identified climate risks, and innovative restoration methods being tested at pilot sites, with a focus on cross-border solutions for enhancing forest climate resilience through assessment, testing and ecosystem restoration.

Holding the national event represents a key step in strengthening cooperation among all partners and stakeholders, ensuring the preconditions for developing effective and sustainable forest ecosystem management models under challenging climate conditions.

The REBIOFORESTS project team thanks all participants for their attendance and contributions and looks forward to further collaboration in the upcoming project phases!
