FULAR: Kick-Off Meeting of project for a Circular and Sustainable furniture production

We are excited to announce the launch of the FULAR project, which brings together partners from seven countries to promote sustainable practices in furniture production! Lead partner on the project is University of Thessaly, Department of Forestry, Wood Science and Design, with Competence Centre as one of the partners, alongside with Furniture Cluster FVG, the Slovenian Wood Industry Cluster, the City of Prijedor Development Agency "PREDA", the Slovenian Forestry Institute, the Albanian Wood Industry Cluster, the University of Belgrade Faculty of Forestry, Croatian Wood Cluster and the IUAV University from Venice.

The first kick-off meeting, held on November 15, 2024, gathered all project partners and collaborators, who together defined the key directions for the project's implementation. Through this project, strategies will be developed to improve the use of local wood, recycled materials, and waste, reducing the ecological footprint of the industry while adding value for consumers who increasingly recognise the importance of sustainability. FULAR is focused on finding concrete solutions to accelerate the transition of the wood processing sector to a circular and green economy.

The activities of the Competence Centre Ltd. within FULAR focus on analysing the attitudes of small and medium-sized enterprises and consumers towards the circular economy, which will serve as a basis for developing a strategy for green furniture production. Through the analysis of successful practices, guidelines will be defined for implementing circular principles in the industry. Additionally, green materials and cost-effective technologies for circular production will be explored, and workshops and competitions for designers will be organised. As the outcome of the project, three innovative solutions for implementation of circularity in furniture industry will be developed.

The project is co-financed by the Interreg IPA ADRION cross-border cooperation program. With the support of expert teams and partners, FULAR has the potential to become a key driver of change not only in our region but beyond. This project is not just an opportunity for ecological progress but also for creating furniture that combines functionality, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
