FOREST4EU: Successful European Operational Groups shared their knowledge with Croatian stakeholders within Knowledge Transfer Workshop

On November 26, 2024, as part of the EUROPEAN innovation partnership network promoting operational groups dedicated to forestry and agroforestry (FOREST4EU) the Knowledge Transfer Workshop was held, focusing on operational groups dedicated to forestry and agroforestry. The workshop took place in a hybrid format, in the Grand Hall of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology at the University of Zagreb.

This event brought together experts and participants from various countries, aiming to facilitate the exchange of knowledge through the presentation of successful best practice examples from Italy, France, and Germany. After an introductory presentation of the FOREST4EU project, participants had the opportunity to hear presentations from operational groups, including GO-PRI.FOR.MAN (Italy), PIF (France), GO-SURF (Italy), Bee Forest (Germany), and NEWTON (Italy).

Innovative approaches using the latest technologies were presented, such as UAVs and multispectral cameras for mapping forest areas, as well as drones for forest regeneration and marking locations for reforestation. Additionally, new business models in forestry and initiatives for sustainable forest management were highlighted.

The workshop concluded with a constructive discussion on the conditions for financing forestry and agroforestry projects in Croatia, allowing for further exchange of experiences and ideas among participants.
