FOREST4EU: 2nd Meeting of the South-East Europe Policy Focus Group was held

On the 28th of May 2024, the 2nd Meeting of the South-East Europe Policy Focus Group was held in the framework of European innovation partnership network promoting operational groups dedicated to forestry and agroforestry – FOREST4EU..

Competence Centre Ltd. head of Department for programmes and projects, Danijela Šarić Bartolović greeted the participants and presented FOREST4EU project and summary of the 1st Meeting of the South-East Europe Policy Focus Group that was held on 27th of March 2024. After the introductory presentation, all participants had the opportunity to present themselves.

Representative of Ministry of agriculture, Sector for rural development measures and interventions representative, Silvio Šimon, PhD, presented the 2nd Amendment of Strategic plan - Common Agricultural Policy Republic of Croatia 2023.-2027.

Kathrin Böhling, PhD, the Bavarian State Institute of Forestry, presented the importance of national forestry policies for the innovation topics in OGs. Furthermore, Ms. Böhling presented the results of the FOREST4EU survey on importance of innovations in the forestry and agroforestry sectors.

Representative of Herzeg-Bosnia Forests Ltd., Marijan Lozančić presented the opportunities and challenges for funding of forestry and agroforestry projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A discussion and a short online survey were held during the meeting, where participants answered 2 questions: why innovations are needed in forestry and which policy goals are relevant for the operational groups of the European Innovation Partnership.

In accordance with the goal of the FOREST4EU project, this meeting was focused at knowledge transfer through the presentation of different European regions. Maria Rosa Mosquera-Losada University of Santiago de Compostelo , presented current stage and gaps in forestry and agroforestry OGs and CAP 2023-2027 forestry and agroforestry support.  

Representatives of ministries, faculties, institutes, public institutions, forest managers, development agencies and consultants from Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, BiH, Serbia and Bulgaria participated in the meeting.
