From March 4 to 6, 2025, the FORADVISE project held its kick-off conference in Girona, Spain, bringing together 34 partners from across Europe. The three-day event aimed to strengthen the network of advisory organizations in forestry and enhance the sector in line with European Union policies.
What Happened at the Conference?
The conference provided a fantastic opportunity for experts from forestry, science, and technology to connect and exchange knowledge. Over three days, participants engaged in:
- Presentations and discussions on key aspects of the project, current challenges, and future plans.
- Interactive workshops on data collection and the use of new technologies.
- A session on collaboration with other EU projects, including EUFarmBook, AF4EU, FOREST4EU, and SMURF.
Field Visit to Vall d’en Bas
To bridge theory and practice, the final day of the conference took participants to Vall d’en Bas, a picturesque valley in Catalonia. Hosts from Consorci Forestal de Catalunya showcased a best-practice example of sustainable forest management, sparking discussions on the challenges and opportunities for developing multifunctional and resilient forests.
What’s Next?
The kick-off conference marked an important first step in building a strong European advisory network in forestry. Partners expressed great enthusiasm for the continuation of this five-year project, which will improve connectivity and knowledge exchange among forestry experts across Europe.
