Kuchl, May 13-14, 2025 – In the heart of the Alps, in the city of Kuchl, a two-day events was held, workshop LEAN methodology and study visit to the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg. This was a part of the ambitious DRWO4.0 project – a model for transforming the wood industry in the Danube region towards Industry 4.0.
Day One: Participants had the opportunity to dive into the world of LEAN methodology through a hybrid train-the-trainer workshop led by expert Nedeljko Štefanić from Culmena d.o.o. Within the study visit, alongside intense knowledge exchange, visitors explored cutting-edge laboratories at the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg, where they learned about innovative practices in green transition, digital prototyping, green biomaterials, and wood product design.
Day Two: The hands-on experience continued with a study visit to the Weinberger-Holz GmbH production facility, where participants got a firsthand look at modern, digitalized wood processing – from smart automation to sustainable solutions that are shaping the future of the industry.
The DRWO4.0 project, co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg Danube Transnational Program, aims to create a more resilient, sustainable, and digitally advanced wood industry. Through innovation, collaboration, and development, the project opens up new opportunities for competitiveness in this critical sector.
