As part of the World Congress of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ 2026), the Competence Centre for Research and Development, together with Croatian Forests, presented its work and the RETFOR and REBIOFORESTS projects at the Forestry Museum in Bošnjaci to agricultural journalists from around the world who visited Vukovar-Srijem County during the Congress.
This year’s World Congress of Agricultural Journalists, held in Croatia for the first time, brought together 170 agricultural journalists, photographers and communicators from 40 countries. Their visit to Vukovar-Srijem County provided an opportunity to showcase the unique features, potential and development initiatives of the region.
On this occasion, CEKOM introduced its work to an international audience, with a particular focus on the RETFOR and REBIOFORESTS projects and activities centred on the Spačva-Bosut Basin. Croatian Forests is the lead partner in both projects, which aim to strengthen the resilience of valuable forest ecosystems to the impacts of climate change through practical solutions implemented on the ground. The gathering in Bošnjaci was a valuable opportunity to bring international visibility to the issues CEKOM addresses at both local and cross-border levels. Journalists from different countries were introduced to the challenges facing the forests of the region, as well as the practical solutions we are developing through research, innovation and partnerships to contribute to their conservation and long-term resilience.
