Second-year undergraduate students of Wood Technology from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, University of Zagreb, accompanied by Professor Dr. Stjepan Pervan, visited the Competence Centre as part of their field visit for the course Wood Drying Technology.
During the professional visit, students had the opportunity to become acquainted with the operation of modern machinery and advanced equipment used in wood processing. The basic principles of natural drying, as well as the fundamentals and technology of technical drying of solid wood, were explained. Students also learned about the organization of raw and dried timber storage, various drying regimes and their applications, as well as control and regulation systems and their practical use.
The visit also covered topics such as identifying and correcting errors in the drying process and calculating the costs of this important technological procedure. This experience enabled students to effectively connect their theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, while gaining direct insight into the work, technologies, and professional activities of the Competence Centre. Both students and their professor expressed great satisfaction with the content and organization of the visit, emphasizing the invaluable importance of such experiences for professional development and future careers.
