Competence Centre Presents DANSER and SWIM Projects at the DaWetRest Living Lab

As part of the Living Lab “Water, Soil, and Forests United for Climate Resilience”, held in Vinkovci on 23–24 September 2026 within the Horizon Europe project DaWetRest, the Competence Centre for Research and Development presented the DANSER and SWIM projects, both implemented under the European Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters”.

The presentation provided an opportunity for participants to learn more about the projects’ activities and solutions, as well as their potential application through the DaWetRest Living Lab platform, which brings together different initiatives focused on ecosystem restoration and strengthening climate resilience.

While DANSER focuses on the restoration and sustainable management of river sediments, including a better understanding of sediment transport and its impact on river ecosystems, SWIM addresses the restoration and protection of habitats for migratory fish species and the improvement of conditions for their migration across the Danube River Basin and the north-western Black Sea region.

The solutions developed through the DANSER and SWIM projects bring added value to the long-term sustainability of the Living Lab platform by broadening its potential applications and connecting different approaches to the conservation of aquatic ecosystems. Integrating these solutions into the platform also lays the groundwork for new project initiatives that can build on existing results, experience and partnerships. In this way, the DaWetRest Living Lab continues to evolve as a space where knowledge and solutions from different European projects are connected with needs on the ground, opening up new opportunities for the restoration and sustainable management of natural resources.
